• 1977 – THE BEGINNING System Development Laboratories is founded… the precursor to Oracle Corporation.
• 1978 – IMPROVING RELATIONS In 1978, the Oracle Relational Database Manager System is developed… the first commercially available RDBMS.
• 1983 – THE CORPORATION In 1983, Oracle officially become Oracle Corporation – soon to become one of the largest companies in the world.
• 1987 – WORLD LEADERS In 1986, Oracle goes public on NASDAQ and launches its SQL *Star software. By 1987, Oracle is confirmed as the world’s largest database management software company.
• 1991 – A LOSS In 1991, Oracle record their first fiscal loss. These are challenging times for the company and bouncing back from this is a major achievement.
• 1997 - NC In 1997, Network Computer Inc. is established by Larry Ellison. This brand was designed to market a large range of diskless desktop computers.
• 2000 – MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENTS In 2000, Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and Technology Network (OTN) Xchange are introduced.
• 2001 – PERFECT STANDARDS In 2001, Oracle's database system is the first to pass nine industry standard security evaluations.
• 2007 – 11G UPPING THE GAME Oracle Database 11g is released on July 11th 2007. This version introduced more features than any other in Oracle’s history.
• 2010 – PIRACY SETTLEMENT Oracle wins $1.3 billion lawsuit against SAP, the largest software piracy settlement ever.
• 2013 - LEADERS Gartner Research names Oracle as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management.
• PROGRESSIONS Oracle has adapted well throughout the years to combat the challenging times. Recent updates like the release of Oracle Database 12C has ensured that Oracle is prepared for the age of cloud computing.
